THE TWILIGHT OF THE GOLDS

by JONATHAN TOLINS

APRIL 18- 21 & APRIL 25-27

When art is at its most outrageous, when it cannot be easily believed, that is when it most resembles life.

Genetic science and opera serve as bockdrops for this modern morality tale about the Golds, a middle-class Jewish family, seemingly close-knit and happy. But their family bond is put to the test when daughter Suzanne considers an abortion, and son David, an aspiring set designer, fervent Bagner fan, and gay man, is forced to question his family's true feelings about his sexuality. Resting somewhere between science fiction and next month's headlines. The Twilight of the Golds combines sensitivity and humor in this penetrating look at a family's and society's, beliefs.

THE CEMETERY CLUB
BY IVAN MENCHELL

SEPTEMBER 19-22 & SEPTEMBER 26-28

This is the story of three Jewish widows from Queens: Doris, who clings to the memory of her husband; Lucille, a would-be vamp espousing the virtues of "playing the field"; and Ida, who is beginning to realize that she still has a life to lead. When their monthly cemetery vigil is disrupted by the addition of a widower in their midst, their life-long friendships are threatened as their true feellings come to the surface. Ivan Menchell's hilarious and heartwarming comedy reminds us that although memoories may be long, life is short, and meant to be lived to the fullest.
